Top 5 airports for long layovers

Chances are we all have had to deal with some long layovers, waiting on that dreaded bench for hours and hours and walking aimlesly around, waiting on the boarding call at the gate. In this post I will write about the best airports to have a layover at. If you are lucky you might even find yourself at one of these airports one day. There are a few airports in the world where it would be very hard to get bored. I will rank these airports for you and help you survive the long layover.

1. Singapore Changi Airport

Visiting this airport is like visiting a themepark of world proportions. The airport itself is already one of the largest you can find in Asia, and it offers a lot. I mean A LOT. From a gigantic waterfall inside the terminal (it has 4 terminals). To over 100 stores for you to explore. It also offers a cinema (for free) and an outdoor pool with a jacuzzi (for free) if you bought your swimming clothes with you.

If you have a long layover, you can also get a free Singapore tour! The tour takes 2,5 hours and once finished you will be back at the airport. I haven’t seen any airport doing this. So if you have the chance to fly via Singapore, this airport is highly recommended!

2. Tokyo Haneda Airport

With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics coming, it makes sense to include this airport in this list. Currently undergoing some renovations to handle the traffic coming next year, Henada Airport offers a lot of things to while you need to wait on your next plane.

From very cool local shops, to 44 different types of restaurants and even a concert hall, ther will be always something to do. There is also an observation deck and plenty of good hotels to find where you can rest. Since a few years they also offer sleeping pods for a very cheap price.

3. Denver International Airport

Denver Internation Airport is the largest Airport in the United States by size, the airport itself already has an amazing architecture but you would be suprised of what it has to offer.

You won’t get bored that easily, over 30 different types of restaurants, Denver Airort also offers a market hall, over 80 different stores to explore and even an art museum (which changes from time to time, so it is always worth a visit). The Airport itself is divided into 3 (and one main building) terminals. The transit system is very efficient and will take you from different terminals within minutes. So there are lots of things to see and do before you board your plane!

4. South Korea Incheon Airport

With another Asian Airport in this list, Incheon Airport is known for be the cleanest airport in the world. But that is not all, the airport as a lot to offer as well. From a casino, Ice skating rink, museum, spa and even a golf course. You won’t get bored here easily. The architecture is also very beautiful with it’s open design that lets a of light inside.

In 2020 they are completing another terminal to be added to the 2 terminals that already exist, making this airport even larger (10th largest airport worldwide).

5. Dubai International Airport

Finishing this list of course the famous Dubai Internation Airport. Known for its luxerious shopping mall, flower garden, museums and swimming pools. This airport will have a lot to explore. The airport is rated as the best connected airport because it has the ideal location of connecting Europe with Asia and Africa.

This airport is also very large, make sure to arrive early so you have time to explore and to walk to your gate (as this might be far from the entrace). However I would not mind spending 24 hours here at all.

Hope you like this list, if you would like to add any other airport that I missed or should be on this list, please let us know in the comments!
