A day in Amsterdam
Andrea loves Amsterdam somehow, however I am from the East of Amsterdam and I don’t really like the big city with all it’s tourist and everyone talking in English to me in my own damn country. Anyhoo we visited Amsterdam again, this time we went to some places even I have never been before and we ate the best Poffertjes we have had in a long time.
This is Holland
One of the coolest atractions, (especially if you are a tourist) is “This is Holland“. This is basically a very big flying simulator. (Like Soarin’ from Disney theme parks). You have two pre shows and then you will sit in a big swing. You will hang above a giant screen flying above the Netherlands.
If you have never left Amsterdam this will be a good way of “Exploring” The Netherlands from above.
From Amsterdam Central Station it is very easy to reach with the free ferry.
Poffertjes & Anne Frank House
After This is Holland, we went to the Anne Frank House. We had tickets so we could enter at a specific time. Make sure to book in advance because during the day we visited the tickets at the entrance where sold out. We had around 40 times before we could enter the museum, we so decided to go the Pancakes restaurant next to it.
At the Pancake Restaurant we ordered one bowl of Poffertjes and some very good hot chocolates. The poffertjes were very nice! When we left we both got some mini clogs as souvenir. (Very nice touch!).
The Anne Frank House was very impressive. However it was very busy. (I think they let too many people inside). We were walking very slowly at the time. It costs us around 2 hours to walk through the whole place and it was not that big.
More of Amsterdam
Later on we walked around Amsterdam a bit more because it was getting late already. The shops are open till 9pm, (big difference with the east of the country where everything closes at 6pm). We explored the damsquare a bit and this time we did not go the red light district. Andrea already has seen that. I bought some amazing new Nike Joyrider sneakers and Andrea bought some stuff for her family back home in some of the tourist shops. After that it was time to go back to Nijmegen. We had a very fun day!
