2018 had a lot of Blockbusters, with Aquaman this was no exception. After Wonderwoman and Justice Leauge, DC Universe keeps expanding, so it was very logical to give Aquaman his own movie. Was it as good as we had hoped?
The film opens with the story of ’80s kid Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa), born to lighthouse keeper Thomas (Temuera Morrison) and Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), the queen of Atlantis, who is saved by Thomas and they fall in love. Fast-forward to the nowadays, Arthur has harnessed his inherited Atlantean abilities.
Jason Momoa fits perfectly for his role, there is plenty of action and the graphics are just so amazing, they are kinda trippy but you will be awestruck for sure. They even put sharks with lasers in the movie. I love that. Even though most of the movie plays underwater, the lights and the beautiful buildings while still keeping it high tech is done very well.
One of the evil villians is Manta, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, does this role very well. However Manta is at first very strong for Aquaman. But once Aquaman gets the golden trident he is no match. He will be back though.
Furthermore, the movie doesn’t show the plot from miles away, there are lots of twists and turns. DC Movies has made a masterpiece with this movie.
One thing I didn’t like was Amber Heard (Mera). Sometimes she was a bit mediocre and even anoying. But that shouldn’t let you stop it from watching Aquaman.
Aquaman levels up the movie scene by some margin, DC Comics really have outdone themselves by making this graphically stunning picture. Jason Momoa fits perfectly for the role.
