During the Corona crisis it is much harder to visit each other, hence we started planning our holiday together way earlier than normally. We knew that at any moment this could have been canceled. Yet we hoped for the best. So to make sure I would not infect anyone of Andrea’s family just incase I brought the virus with me. We decided to stay in a luxerious all in resort. The Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya.

Everything was taken care of, from the airport we had a shuttle (we had to wait a long time, but eventually we got transfered alone to our hotel). The check in process was different, indoor we had to wear our mask, except when drinking/eating. The hotel made sure distance could be kept at all times. And our room was cleaned as best as possible.

Somehow we got an upgrade of our room as well. Instead of just 1 room with a balcony (hammock included) we got an entire space for ourself on the roof. The rooftop even had a jacuzzi.

The Hard Rock Hotel has 5 restaurants, everyone single of them is all inclusive. During the breakfast time there was a buffet, however guests were not allowed to get the food themselves. Instead the staff would get the food for you. This reduces the risk of spreading Corona.

The hotel itself consist of 2 parts, the hacienda section and the heaven section. We stayed in the Hacienda section. The heaven section is an adult only section. However a few weeks before I arrived this section got destroyed by two huricanes.

Hard Rock Hotel also has a very large pool, a skate park, a trampoline park and a slides park. We only stayed at the pool and the beach (which is next to the pool).

On Monday we went to a very famous park called Xplor. The park is under the same umbrella company as Xcaret. Other parks they have are: Xplor, Xenses, Xavage, Xocimilco and more.

Xplor is an adventure park, you can do ziplines, cave swimming, racing in a car through caves and slide in hammocks in the water. For more info visit: Xplor. When I visited Cancun last time, I knew I would love to visit Xplor one day.

Tickets might be a little bit expensive (around 120 Dollar per person), but you also get unlimited food and drinks at the buffet restaurant and a full day of activities. Which is I think a good deal.

With the pandemic going on, it was less busy than I thought it was and at some activities Andrea and I were all alone. There we no waiting times at all. The park itself was amazing as well, it was raining during the afternoon for some reason we liked being wet in the water than being wet in the rain!

So if you are an adventurer and you are in Cancun/Playa del Carmen, Xplor is a must visit. Trust me!
