Cork is a small city in the south of Ireland, some say it’s true Ireland, however I disagree with that. Cork is really famous for it’s English market. The British Queen has visited this market a few times in the past and apparently she loves it.
We took the train from Dublin Houston to Cork Kent station, the train ride took around 3 hours but was otherwise very pleasant. There is a bar in the train and free wifi, so you won’t be bored during the trip.
Once we arived we walked to the city center and we came across an arcade hall, where we spent some time playing games and later even did some bowling.
The city center itself looks really nice and very modern, if you like shopping, this is a nice place for you. The English Market is closed on Sundays, so make sure you arrive earlier if you want to try some great food.
Things we did in Cork:
- The English market.
- The Butter Museum.
- Blackrock observatory.
- Cathedral of St Mary and St Anne
One thing we recommend to visit is the Blackrock observatory, this is a science museum located in an old castle, it’s very interesting if you like science. On the castle terrace there is also a restaurant located with very nice food!
The Butter museum is a very small museum about butter (what else), it’s not worth your time. We were done in about 20 minutes.
All in all, we really had a great time, would like to return to Cork sometime in the future.
